How to Upgrade Your Hosting Plan

As your business grows, you may need more storage, bandwidth, or resources. Upgrading your hosting plan with MyDomains.tech is a one-click process that happens without any downtime.

When should you upgrade?

Consider upgrading if you notice:

  • Your website is loading slowly during peak times
  • You’re approaching your storage or bandwidth limit (visible in your client area)
  • You’re getting traffic spikes that your current plan can’t handle
  • You need to host additional websites (more than your current plan allows)
  • Your applications require more RAM or CPU (consider a VPS upgrade)

How to upgrade a shared hosting plan

  1. Log in to your MyDomains.tech client area
  2. Click Services in the top navigation
  3. Find your current plan and click Manage
  4. Click Upgrade/Downgrade
  5. Select the new plan you want and review the price difference
  6. Confirm the upgrade

Your account is upgraded immediately. You are billed a prorated amount for the remainder of your current billing cycle, then the new rate on your next renewal date.

How to upgrade from shared hosting to VPS

Moving from shared hosting to a VPS is a larger change, but we handle the migration for you at no charge.

  1. Contact our team to discuss which VPS plan fits your needs
  2. We’ll provision your new VPS and set it up with the same configuration as your shared hosting account
  3. We’ll migrate your files, databases, and email accounts
  4. We’ll update DNS once everything is confirmed working on the new server
  5. Your site stays live throughout the migration; there’s no downtime

Upgrading a VPS plan

  1. Log in to your client area
  2. Go to Services > My Services
  3. Click Manage on your VPS plan
  4. Select Upgrade/Downgrade
  5. Choose the new plan and confirm

VPS upgrades involve a brief server restart (typically under 60 seconds).

What stays the same after an upgrade?

  • Your domain names and DNS settings
  • Your website files and databases
  • Your email accounts
  • Your cPanel login credentials (for shared hosting upgrades)

Pricing for upgrades

You’re only charged the difference between your current plan and the new plan, prorated for the days remaining in your billing cycle.

Example: If you’re on the $14.95/mo Business plan and upgrade to the $29.95/mo Pro plan with 15 days left in the month, you’ll be charged approximately $7.50 (half the $15 difference).
